It is truly said that right people at right place become most important asset for a company. But keeping people within the umbrella of “Right” is important. Managing and controlling human resource in a way that they stay productive to the best possible way is one of the most difficult job.

There are three – often ignored – factors which contribute alot towards a healthy and productive workforce.

Work Force Dependency: It is true that people are the execution blocks of any company but a leader and his company should never ever be dependent on people. Many of us keep raising extremely unproductive resources because of the fear of losing just 20% work they do. The first step towards a productive workforce is about a leader making up this mindset that – people come and go, work never stops – it is this mindset which enable a leader and give him guts to screen out and eliminate unproductive workforce. Unable to eliminate unproductive workforce has been observed as a prominent weakness of many leaders and entrepreneurs, especially those who are more strong on emotional side.

Work Force Activity: Is your workforce engaged enough to be productive? Because not necessarily a resource is unproductive because of attitude or skill set, it can be because of your poor work management. As a leader you need to make sure that your resources are not idle and should always have planned and well communicated objectives. The most dangerous fact about an idle workforce is that over the time they loose the importance of organization and its objectives.

Workforce Accountability: Just as an idle workforce gets non-serious and unproductive, a workforce with no accountability becomes unproductive at a much more higher level. Every individual in your company should know about what he or she is responsible for what will be the reward for achieving it and what will be the penalty for not achieving it. Accountability backed by rewards and penalties is how you gain trust and loyalty before the employees.

So, to have a balanced and productive workforce you need to make sure that human dependency is not your weakness emotionally and logically and your workforce know their objectives and its reward and penalties.
